Who is the course is for?

This course is a taster session aimed at learners with computer experience who would like an introduction into how spreadsheet software can be used to calculate, analyse and summarise data.

How long is the course?

One 5 hour session.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

Basic English and computer skills are required.

What will the course cover and what should I be able to do by the end of it?

Create an Excel spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel.

The learner will:

  • Be able to create, save and print a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet

  • Be able to edit and format a spreadsheet

  • Be able to calculate data using formulas and functions.

Will I get a qualification?             

There is no qualification as this is a taster course, but you can ask for a certificate of attendance if you require one.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

If you require additional support you can attend any of the study support sessions to practise what you have learnt.

How will my progress be assessed?

You will be assessed on the completion of the exercises/tasks completed during the session.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

You can progress onto another Adult Community Learning ICT course.

Are there any costs and what do I need to bring?

There are no costs, but you need to bring a pen and notepad. Handouts will be given during the session.

What support is available?

You will receive support from your tutor throughout the session.
