Who is the course is for?

This is a taster session for learners that want an introduction into how Microsoft PowerPoint software can be used to design presentations.

How long is the course?

One session, usually between 3 – 6 hours.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

You are expected to be able to write and communicate at a minimum entry level 3. We can arrange a literacy assessment if you are not sure. No other experience is necessary.

What will the course cover and what should I be able to do by the end of it?

Designing simple presentations using PowerPoint.   By the end of this course you will be able to: Open and close Microsoft PowerPoint and select a design template.  Change the font style, size, colour, emphases of your text. Create and insert new slides. Insert an image and run, print and save a presentation.

Will I get a qualification?

There is no qualification as this is a taster course, but you can ask for a certificate of attendance if you require one.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

If you require additional support you can attend any one of the study support sessions to go over and practice what you have learnt on this course.

How will my progress be assessed?

You will be assessed on the completion of the exercises/tasks that you will be required to do on that day.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

On successful completion of this course you can progress onto the Entry 3 Introduction to PowerPoint course or any of the ICT OCNLR course at Entry 3 level.

Are there any costs and what do I need to bring?

The course is free and handouts will be provided but you will need to bring along your own pen, note book and a ring binder (folder).

What support is available?

You will receive support from your tutor throughout the course but we will also talk to you about any other support needs you may have.
