Who are these for?
These sessions are an opportunity for anyone who would benefit from talking one-to-one to an advisor about work or training needs
How long are they?
Appointments are usually made for half an hour. If a follow-up session is necessary, then this can also be arranged.
What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to attend this session?
None necessary
What will the session cover and what should I be able to do by the end of it?
You will be supported by a qualified and experienced Information, Advice and Guidance advisor to get the help, support and information you need to move forward with your work or training needs.
Will I get a qualification?
No
What extra study or practice is expected outside of the session?
None required
How will my progress be assessed?
The IAG Advisor will cover this with you where relevant.
What can I expect to go on to after the session?
After the session you may decide you want to brush up on your maths or English skills or using a computer. We also run short workshops to help boost confidence or to prepare for interviews better. Your advisor will be able to help you choose what the next step will be for you.
Are there any costs and what do I need to bring?
The session is free and you may get some information handouts but you will need to bring along your own pen and a note book
What support is available?
Let us know if you have any particular support needs or if you need adjustments to be made in order for you to access our courses and training. You will be able to get further support if you need it and it is always possible to have a follow-up appointment. If you need help looking for work, we have regular Employment Support drop-in sessions. Ask your advisor or any staff member for details.
