Who is the course is for?

This course is aimed at learners with computer experience and successfully completed the Computers for Beginners’ course.

How long is the course?

One session per week for 4 weeks. The session is usually 2 ½ Hours per week.

What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?

Basic English, math and computer skills are required.

What will the course cover and what should I be able to do by the end of it?

Learners will enhance the skills and knowledge required by an IT user to create documents, use Internet software tools and techniques to search for information on the World Wide Web and Websites, as well as, send and receive emails.

Learners will:

·         Be able to open and Close Microsoft Word.

·         Be able to create and edit a Document (Cut, Copy and Paste)

·         Be able to format a document (font: style, size, colour, alignment, emphasis and page layout)

·         Be able to search for Information using the Internet

·         Be able to send and receive email messages.

·         Be able to attach files to email messages

Will I get a qualification?             

No, however, you will receive an attendance certificate to say that you have attended and completed the course successfully.

What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?

If you require additional support you can attend any one of the study support sessions to practise what you have learnt.

How will my progress be assessed?

You will be assessed on the completion of the exercises/tasks completed during the sessions.

What can I expect to go on to after this course?

On successful completion of this course you can progress onto a level 1 ICT course at any one of our learning centres…

Are there any costs and what do I need to bring?

There are no costs, but you need to bring a folder, pen and notepad. Handouts will be given during the sessions.

What support is available?

You will receive one to one support from your tutor throughout the course but we will also talk to you about any other support needs you may have. You can also attend our study support sessions to practice.
